Regarding my upcoming game Warmongrel.

-Overview-

welcome to my brand-spanking-new page about my brand-spanking-new game warmongrel. it’s so new, it isn’t even made yet. in fact, it hasn’t even started being made. in fact, i can’t even program. but when i learn, it’ll be a stonkingly brilliant game. it’s called warmongrel because it’s about war, and it’s made up of the best bits of some really good games. like a mongrel. that’s at war. i have a killer story for it too. well, it took 5 minutes to knock up, but it’s funny. anyways, the game will be top-down 2D, in the same style as chase ace 2 (www.chaseace.com). if the makers of it are reading this, please send me a copy for ‘research’ purposes. the demo is too small :) i love this game, and it is the main influence on mine. another big influence is red dog for the dreamcast. I love the vehicle, the way it handles, all the multiplayer modes, the missions, the music, pretty much everything. the other major influences are worms armageddon and triplane turmoil, which you’ve probably never heard of. i want my game to be really... well... personal, I s’pose. you know the way in worms you think ‘hmm, i’ll get worm 1 to do this job, ‘cos he’s good at that sort of thing’, even though they are all exactly the same? and the way that afterwards it gives you all sorts of awards, good and bad? and the way in both games that it keeps a kind of running total of wins, losses, kills, aggressivenes, number of times you’ve fired a certain weapon, accuracy, mother’s maiden name etc. I want it to be a real league kind of thing, like they were. one last mega big thing will be that it’ll be (hopefully) 32 player online or via LAN. I hope to make big maps with bases, and assign different players to different jobs, and have a general war kind of thing going on, with generals and respect for the better players, and stuff like that. I have about 40 or so multiplayer modes planned, from deathmatch to shooting down the most passing jets, to popping bananas attached to enemy vehicles. It WILL be fun, you WILL enjoy it, and I WILL get lots of money for it. Anyway, rant over. Goodbye, fans.
 
Progress is slow... i've been very busy recently, for reasons that i've probably moaned about on the main page somewhere. Once i'm satisfied with the design of the new site, i'll be able to concentrate on making Warmongrel.

For now though, i have made version 1.0 Alpha. that's alpha as in very basic. You can drive a tank around a colourful background, which is nice. get it from the downloads section.

 
-Clever Ideas-

Here follows a bunch of features that i hope to include in the game. A lot of them won't make it, but i'll try to include some of them. If you have any good ideas you think i should use, tell me on the forum and i'll try to make them work...

  • Billions of different multiplayer modes- all of quake’s and red dog’s and a kind of molez- aspect (don’t ask me where that came from)
  • Medals and awards as in WA and Q3A
  • LAN/internet 16 player teamplay or deathmatch games
  • lots of stupid bots to bulk out games
  • Bases with walls and buildings etc. that can be blown up
  • Manga-like explosions & graphics as in Chase Ace 2
  • Different special things for each vehicle
  • Random stuff happening- guns misfiring/missiles turning mid-flight [little doodle]-wheels coming off(???)
  • Bases that function-like toy commander (DC game) but bigger and more stuff
